Determine the amount you wish to invest in your romantic vacation. Major considerations: transportation, accommo- dations, meals and activities.
Determine the maximum amount of time you can take. Allow yourselves at least one day to relax at home after your honeymoon before you return to work.
Determine your choice of “hot and tropical paradises,” “cool and crisp mountains,” or a perfect balance of both.
You may wish to stay in a plush modern resort, a richly historic landmark hotel, or a quaint cottage or inn. Do your homework so you will be pleased with your room on arrival.
Build your honeymoon around your mutual interests such as golf, tennis, horseback riding, swimming, sailing, skiing, nightlife, etc.
Plan Ahead
Wait until the last minute to plan your honeymoon and your ultimate destination may not be available. Get started early on your honeymoon planning. You’ll not only plan your dream honeymoon but also save money.
Consider your needs for clothing, luggage and travel accessories based on climate and activities. Pack a small carry-on bag of clothes and toiletries in case any luggage is lost. If you are traveling outside of the United States, remember your passport. (It is always a good idea to carry two forms of photo identification.) And don’t forget your camera. §
