Just as important as the wedding gown, the tuxedo is a symbol of elegance, masculinity, and formality. American Commodore is a family owned and operated Cleveland-based business that has been helping grooms carry on the tradition of wearing the tuxedo since 1928. With twenty-eight locations in Northern Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and Western New York, American Commodore provides a convenient and affordable way for grooms and groomsmen to wear designer tuxedos. “We’re the only Cleveland-based formalwear franchise,” says Ray Caporale, vice president of American Commodore. “All of our stock and merchandise is here in the Cleveland area.” Stocking over 25,000 tuxedos, American Commodore combines the latest tuxedo fashions with incredible selections of accessories to create one of the most exciting formalwear collections anywhere.
Before even going to one of the American Commodore locations, the first step in renting a tuxedo for your wedding is to register your wedding party. The process of registering at American Commodore is simple. At different times of the year there are different specials. Just sign onto the American Commodore website or visit the store to register your party and lock into a promotion. Your local American Commodore location then receives the request at the store which allows you to keep the special price, no matter when your wedding is. “American commodore has been in business for a number of years because we care about what happens,” says Caporale. “It’ll be a quality tuxedo with good people who have good knowledge and we’ll be on time we’re dependable. We’ll give you the best value out there.”
With unlimited combinations of ties, pocket squares, shoes, jackets, shirts, pants, and colors all of those items, choosing a tuxedo can be a daunting task. “A tuxedo is more of a personal expression,” says Caporale. “We carry over sixty different styles. Some are more fashion-forward and some are more traditional.” But the knowledgeable and helpful sales staff of American Commodore can help you choose the best tuxedo for your wedding, your body type, and your personality. “The first thing a groom needs to know is the color scheme of the wedding,” says Caporale. “He needs to know the color of the bride’s gown so that he can match his shirt to it. Is it white or is it ivory?”
Designer tuxedos and traditional tuxedos are both available at American Commodore. Lauren by Ralph Lauren is a popular designer with soft Super 100 fabrics which is previously unheard of in the rental industry. Other top designers available include Oscar de la Renta, Perry Ellis, Claiborne, Chaps, After Six, and Andrew Fezza. “We also have other traditional or private labels available,” says Caporale. “They’re more traditional styles without the royalties that designer labels require so they’re offered at competitive prices.”
Do you have out of town groomsmen? American Commodore makes rentals hassle free for them and you. Measuring is a complimentary service provided at just about every formalwear store in the country. Just have him go to any local formalwear store to have the proper measurements taken. He can then call the American Commodore where your wedding party is registered and tell an associate the measurements. He can also e-mail them to the store. This makes the fitting process incredibly easy for the groom’s party. “Basically, there are two to three times you’ll need to come in for fittings,” says Caporale. “The first time you come in you’ll get measured and order the tux. Then when you come in to pick up the tux you’ll try it on for a final fitting. If it doesn’t fit we’ll replace the garment that doesn’t fit and have it to you the next day.” There are no hassles at American Commodore. When your tux arrives it will be cleaned and neatly pressed. The day after the wedding the tuxedos can be simply be returned, no dry cleaning is required.
