Weddings In Cleveland

Black Box Photography

I grew up in a small Northeast Ohio town called Norton. My parents are Eastern European and settled down in Ohio with other family members where they raised my four siblings and me. I am the youngest of us five and love being part of a large family. We are now all married and I have two nephews and three nieces.

After high school, I attended and graduated from The University of Akron with my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. During my senior year of college, I met my husband through a mutual friend and the following year we were married. We’ve been married for 8 years and love traveling and spending time with family and friends. Soon after our wedding, we moved out to Phoenix, Arizona where I worked as a Kindergarten teacher and my husband a corporate accountant. I was very thankful to begin my teaching career, but quickly found out that after my first year the district was going to implement a reduction in force, which would leave me without a job. Despite getting hired back, this would continue for two more years. At this point I knew it was time to create a plan B… do I go back to school and find a new profession or find something else? This is when I decided to pursue my true passion, photography.

While still living in Arizona, I was learning what I could from my brother-in-law back in Ohio, who was learning photography on the side as a hobby. Once my husband and I decided to move back home, it was time for me to either try and get a teaching job or take the leap and start my own photography business. I made the jump and pursued photography full-time and started my company, Black Box Photography.

Black Box Photography specializes in engagements and weddings, but also newborn and family portraits. Because of my background in teaching and my love for children, it has equipped me with the skills I need to interact with all ages and form a bond that goes beyond a business relationship. For me, photography is more than just a job. It is such an honor and privilege to be able to document moments and memories that we could never otherwise get back.

I encourage future clients to understand the gift that photography gives and take the time to be in front of the camera. Photographs are something to be treasured from generation to generation.
We live in a very technological time and although it is fun and easy to use your smart phone or buy a nice camera and use the basic settings, it is important to invest in a professional photographer who will ensure you are taken care of, that you look your best, and will capture those moments in a less stressed environment
