The Ballroom at Park Lane

Discover a timeless era at the Ballroom at Park Lane, a vintage wedding venue in the heart of University Circle. Opened in 1923, amidst the prohibition era, the building was once a luxury hotel and speakeasy where the rich and famous would stay – and mingle – when they visited Cleveland. In the 1960s, it served as an underground concert venue that hosted an array of musicians, including folk legends Arlo Guthrie and Bob Dylan.

“From being a secret speakeasy during prohibition to hosting famous musicians and celebrities, the Ballroom at Park Lane has such a rich, storied history,” says Lori Reynolds, Regional Property Manager at The Finch Group, which owns the property. “Now, as a wedding venue, it offers couples a special place to create their own piece of history.”
Spiral staircases to soaring columns, the Ballroom’s vintage architectural details create a glamorous setting for weddings. The main ballroom, which features the original wrap-around balcony and stage, is designed perfectly for ceremonies. Upon entering the gorgeous space, with its early 20th century charm, guests will think they’ve gone back in time to a period of pure elegance. The ballroom accommodates weddings up to 250 guests. For brides who prefer an outdoor ceremony, a private courtyard offers a tranquil setting with lush gardens and holds up to 100 guests.

Perhaps the most unique room in the venue is the Speakeasy Parlor, a full-service bar with the flair of the roaring 20s. Adjacent to the ballroom, the swanky speakeasy features terrazzo floors, ornate bar stools, two taps for kegs and flat-panel TVs to play photo slide shows or videos. “With a vintage vibe you can’t find anywhere else, the Speakeasy Parlor is truly the hidden gem of this space,” Reynolds says. “It’s the perfect spot for guests to mingle during cocktail hour and throughout the reception.”

The Ballroom’s exclusive catering partner is Spice of Life Catering Co., Cleveland’s farm-to-table caterer dedicated to “regional, seasonal and sustainable ingredients.” Spice of Life sources its ingredients from small family farms within a 150-mile radius of Cleveland to create exceptional seasonal menus. Foods can even be grown exclusively for a wedding. Known for nature-inspired presentations, Spice of Life brings a “wow” factor to wedding receptions with culinary displays that are truly a work of art.

“The trend nowadays is moving toward local, sustainable ingredients, and many brides want to support the local community,” Reynolds says. “Spice of Life offers an impeccable fine dining experience using only the freshest seasonal ingredients from right here in Ohio.”
Experienced in-house wedding planners work with brides every step of the way to ensure a stress-free planning process and wedding day. They offer a signature list of local vendors, including florists, DJs, lighting designers, valets and more, to help bring your dream wedding to life.

“The majestic beauty of this venue, coupled with the expertise of our event planners, is second to none,” Reynolds says. “A wedding is one of the most special days of your life, and I can’t think of a more special place to get married than the Ballroom at Park Lane.”
